The Virden family papers, spanning the years 1783-1901, consist of thirty-six letters, receipts, deeds, accounts, and other documents.

Heinrich von Nagel wrote this two-page autograph letter to the Duke of Wittelsbach on December 28, 1826. The letter, written in German, accompanied a pamphlet on the safflower and the commercial prospects of cultivating it in Bavaria. The pamphlet has been removed for cataloging.
